It’s been awhile since I was last into the database – started a new job. I’ve started going through the photos & histories reconnecting them to families & individuals. Unfortunately, when I moved the database to the new web host, the software lost track of these connections. I’m part way through the photos and done a couple of the histories. More to go…

It’s come to my attention that when I moved my database to the new host, the database didn’t restore the links between the persons and photos / histories / documents and headstones.
I’ll have to manually set up these links again. Sorry about that!
I also had an error showing up in the “Places” table. I fixed that error tonight so the table now displays statistics.

This past weekend I uploaded my Estacaille GEDCOM to www.GENi.com and started inviting my cousins to join. Among my many branches include Braniffs in Canada. GENi is a free membership website that allows you to build your tree in a private (or semi-private, your choice) space and you can invite your cousins/family members to “claim” their spot on the tree. You can share photos, videos, family news as well as discuss topics.
I’ve had a great response from the cousins I’ve sent invites to.
For beginners, it’s easy to use and the graphical tree is nice. The only drawback I see right now is that it is currently only in English. Other translations have been apparently in the works for about a year.
Check it out! Upload your family tree and see who you can connect with!

Alright! It looks like I have the website up and running again with a minimum of problems.
To visit the database, click on the “View Database” listed under “Pages” on the right side of this page.
I did run into a couple of snags when restoring the backups. For some reason the list of users will not restore. So if you’ve had a user account in the past and would like one again, here’s how to sign up:
Click on the “Visit Database” page link on the right and scroll down to the link “click here to visit database”. This will bring you to the front page of the database. Click on the “Log In” link found on the top left under the search fields. Scroll down to the bottom of the Log In page, pass the instructions for lost usernames/passwords to find “Register for new account”. Fill out the pertinent info and a notice will be sent to me, the webmaster, for approval. Once approved, you will receive an email informing you that your profile is ready to go.

Hi everyone! Thanks for visiting.
Braniffs.ws is on the move to a new webhost – so at the moment my genealogy database is not available for viewing. I’ll get it re-installed, up and running as fast as I can.
